Frequently Asked Questions?
1. What type of massage do you offer?
I provide clinical, assessment-based remedial massage, not relaxation or full-body massage. Each session is area-focused, targeting the specific muscles, joints, and movement patterns contributing to your pain or dysfunction.
2. Do you offer dry needling?
Yes. I am a qualified and experienced dry needling therapist. Dry needling is often a key part of treatment for muscle tightness, trigger points, headaches, jaw (TMJ) issues, neck pain, and postural dysfunction. It is always applied with clinical reasoning and your comfort in mind.
3. Will I receive a full body massage?
No. I do not offer full-body massages. My approach is targeted and intentional, focusing only on the areas that require treatment to achieve meaningful, long-term results.
4. What conditions do you treat?
I commonly treat:
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Lower back and hip pain
- Postural dysfunction (including pelvic tilt)
- Jaw pain and TMJ dysfunction
- Headaches
- Training- and sport-related muscle issues
Every session begins with a clinical assessment to guide effective treatment.
5. Do you work from a home-based clinic?
Yes. My clinic is professionally set up within my home in Dalyellup, offering a private, calm, and clinical environment while allowing for highly personalised care.
6. Can I claim through private health insurance?
Yes. I offer on-the-spot private health claiming using a HICAPS (EFTPOS) machine, provided remedial massage is included in your level of cover.
7. Do you have early or flexible appointment times?
I don’t advertise early appointments; however, if you require an earlier time, please ask. Where possible, I’m happy to accommodate individual needs.
8. What is your cancellation policy?
I do not charge a cancellation fee. I kindly ask that you are mindful when booking, as this is a small, home-based business, and missed appointments directly impact my income. Wherever possible, please provide as much notice as you can.
9. What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first session includes:
- A detailed assessment
- Discussion around your pain, posture, and movement patterns
- Targeted remedial massage and/or dry needling
- Education on contributing factors and ongoing management
This is a results-focused session aimed at identifying and addressing the cause of your concern.
10. Why should I choose Muscle Focused Therapy?
I am passionate about delivering intentional, outcome-driven care. With extensive experience in assessment-based treatment and a strong understanding of how the body is loaded through daily life and training, my focus is to help you move better, feel better, and function better.
11. Is dry needling painful?
Sensations vary from person to person. You may feel a brief muscle twitch, ache, or pressure, which typically settles quickly. The process is always explained beforehand, and treatment is performed within your comfort level.
12. How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your condition, its duration, and how your body responds. Some clients experience improvement after one session, while others benefit from a short treatment plan. My focus is on effective care, not unnecessary appointments.
13. Do I need a referral from my GP?
No referral is required. If you have relevant medical information, imaging, or reports, you are welcome to bring them along to support your assessment.
14. What should I wear or bring to my appointment?
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated. Towels are always used to maintain privacy, comfort, and professionalism.
15. Is this treatment suitable if I’m not active or athletic?
Yes. While I work with many active clients, remedial massage and dry needling are equally effective for pain related to work, posture, stress, and everyday activities. Treatment is always tailored to the individual.
